Chidiya Ud web series is a gripping story inspired by true events and based on the book Cages by Abid Surti. The series revolves around Seher, a resilient 20-year-old from Rajasthan who dares to dream beyond the limits of her circumstances. Driven by ambition and determination to redefine her destiny, Seher travels to Mumbai, the city of dreams, but soon discovers its darker and harsher side. About Abid Surti’s Cages Book
Abid Surti or Aabid Surti is an Indian painter, author, cartoonist, journalist, environmentalist, playwright and screenwriter. He was given a National Award by the government of India in 1993 for writing a series of short stories called the “Teesri Aankh”.
‘Cages: Love and Vengeance in a Red-Light District‘ is set at the gritty intersection of the world of prostitution in Kamathipura, the Bombay underworld, and Bollywood in the 1970s, Cages is inspired by the true story of Kumud, a sex worker who dared to own her sexuality and play by her rules.
